Adequate Basic Lodging; Your Get... Liked: The Rose Bowl Motel was a good value for what it was. We stayed there because it was less expensive than other lodging in the area. It is also located close to our son, whom we were visiting. The unit was very clean. The king-size mattress was comfortable. The toilet, sink, shower, and air conditioner worked well. The hot water flowed quickly in the sink and shower. The room had a small refrigerator and a microwave, which we appreciated. We didn't use the TV, preferring to use our iPad. There were adequate electrical outlets to power our electronics. The available free wi-fi had a strong, consistent signal. The motel is located on Colorado Boulevard, a busy thoroughfare. However, our room was quiet, and we had no problem sleeping. We were happy to find Cindy's Diner across the street from the motel, where we got coffee and meals. Trader Joe's was conveniently located across the boulevard too. Disliked: The room was small, especially with the king bed taking up so much space. There was no place to hang up clothing and no place to stow suitcases. The furniture in the room, a small table, two nightstands, and a chair, was old and somewhat damaged. Although the room was clean, it seemed outdated and worn. The room served its purpose - it provided a place to sleep, but it was neither attractive nor welcoming. We were surprised that coffee was not available in the room or at the office. My wife found this omission particularly egregious. If cost is the primary concern, the Rose Bowl Motel is a reasonable choice. However, for future visits to the area, I will consider looking elsewhere and paying more for a more upscale and comfortable room.
